The HRIT - Workday Engineering Manager will lead the Workday Engineering team in support of Cengage’s HR systems. You will partner with the BA on defining and implementing near-term and long-term priorities. To be successful you should have solid experience managing people and teams, leading and possess strong Workday technical skills.

Essential duties/responsibilities

Operational Management

  • Manage and lead the Workday engineering team in support of HR business operations.

  • Liaise with network administrators and software engineers to assist with quality assurance, program logic, and data processing.

  • Compile and maintain inventory of company software and systems assets and their corresponding contracts/agreements.

  • Develop and communicate training and documentation for end users, hold clinics as necessary, and other user-related activities.

  • Develop, distribute, and coordinate in-depth end-user reviews for modified and new systems or applications.

Strategy & Planning

  • Ensure that applications meet business requirements and systems goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and identify and resolve systems issues.

  • Review and analyze existing applications effectiveness and efficiency, and then develop strategies for improving or using these systems.

  • Cultivate and disseminate knowledge of application-usage standard methodologies.

Engineering:

  • Lead complex projects and enhancements by providing Workday technical configuration for multiple Workday modules. Execute HR system changes, updates, maintenance, testing, and upgrades, as needed.

  • Manage engineering team, providing leadership and guidance to team on their engineering tasks, support issues, design, implementation.

  • Plan updates to business processes, supervisory organizations, role assignments, quicklinks documents, and other processes as needed.

  • Consult with BA’s regarding business requirements, set up, process improvements and/or implementation of features and reporting needs. Make recommendations based on knowledge of different aspects of functional area's needs and system capabilities.

  • Support the functional areas of our HR systems (primarily Workday) - Human Capital Management (HCM), Compensation, Recruiting, Benefits, Time and Attendance, Leave and Absence Management, Talent, Learning, Payroll, and Reporting

  • Lead system upgrades, enhancements, testing, validation, and overall performance of systems; analyze software releases to assess impact of new features and recommend process or system optimization in alignment with business goals

  • Provide oversight in the creation of guides, documentation, communications and/or training materials which provide end-users the tools needed to successfully apply employee-facing systems.

  • Provide day to day support and analysis for the HR systems, providing accurate and timely responses to user support requests

  • Prepare, and conduct mass data loads using Workday EIB templates

  • Review and lead Workday Service Updates

  • Ensure system compliance with regulatory requirements, including GDPR, SOX and other control narratives and matrices

  • Align with HR Technology and IT change control processes

  • Ensure coordination & communications are in place for multi-functional delivery between HR and the following areas: Integrations, Organizational Change, Training & Reporting

  • Participate in the bi-annual Workday release process including change testing, testing new functionality, and recommending which new features to take on

  • Browse Workday Community to research solutions or propose enhancements to current processes

Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with HR Systems required

  • 5+ years of Managerial experience

  • 3+ years of hands-on Workday configuration experience with at least three of the following Workday products below: Core HCM, Absence, Advanced Compensation, Benefits, Performance, Recruiting, Learning, Payroll, Security or Advanced Reporting. Experience with platform implementations, configuration, security, and integrations.

  • 5+ years of IT experience

  • Broad knowledge and understanding of Workday touchpoints, security, configuration, and integrations.

The full base pay range has been provided for this position. Individual base pay will vary based on work schedule, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location. Sales roles often incorporate a significant incentive compensation program beyond this base pay range.

$101,900.00 - $163,000.00 USD
